From Army to Gym ownership… a sneak peek inside the Chronicle ADC Gym with Josh and the team!
Q. Tell us about your gym and what was your vision behind creating it?
Two other serving Army buddies and I founded the Chronicle ADC Gym. We came together to keep the community of a closing gym together. Experiencing gyms and boxes all over the country, we wanted to design something that filled all the downfalls of those gyms.
So, we came up with a 24hr access open gym with a home vibe and very few rules (no shoes, no shirt, and you’ll still get service).
Q. What types of people use your gym?
We represent three main speciality styles of training. CrossFit, Powerlifting and Strongman, boasting national athletes for all three.
Whilst we have a competitive nature, Chronicle welcomes people of all experience and fitness levels. We believe our members and athletes should have the freedom and skills to jump between disciplines without changing gyms so they can learn more while doing what they love at the time.
We also have our fair share of people in the Defence forces coming to train at the Chronicle ADC gym. That’s because we used to be Army too, and our gym is in Wagga Wagga, near the Army barracks.
Q. What makes Chronicle different from other gyms?
Chronicle homes Wagga’s only specialist equipment. From calibrated powerlifting weights to the heaviest Strongman equipment possible, Chronicle can home any athlete.
Aside from our main training styles, Chronicle is home to 6 small fitness businesses. These include Jui Jitsu, Wrestling, Physiotherapy, Massage, Boxing, Nutritionists, and many personal trainers. We strive to give other small fitness start-ups the help we never had, so we welcome all to give it a shot.
The most prominent element that sets us apart is our home vibe. Athletes are welcome at the gym anytime. So, whether it’s to train, study, or just chill on the couches and cook lunch, we’ve got you covered.
Q. Tell us about your experience working with VERVE and selecting the equipment you needed to create the gym of your dreams.
Coming into the fitness business with no business experience, we had little idea of getting started. Luckily, we were able to get in early with Niall from VERVE.
Niall worked with us every step of the way in our start-up, helped us select equipment and find the best prices. So, with all the other issues starting a small business, at least we didn’t have to worry about getting high-quality equipment with ease.
Q. What’s the future for Chronicle?
We want to keep growing, adding to our small fitness business hub with more specialities to provide our athletes. We will also run our first CrossFit Competition soon, which we will grow our competitions to be recognised nationally.
