This June, we celebrate all the special men in our lives! The fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, bros and mates! Whoever they are, we are celebrating Men and the importance of their health and mental well-being on Men's Health Month.
Traditionally men have always been seen as the protector, the man of the house, the provider, the hero, the handyman, the comforter, and the list goes on.
With the list of numerous roles, it's no wonder that our men feel the overwhelming pressure of it all, and perhaps hold back on just being human and vulnerable.
This June, we want to remind the men in our lives that balance and living a healthy life, mentally, physically & emotionally, is far more important than the stereotypical boxed-in roles that society has placed them in.
Men's Health Month consists of 30 days of raising awareness of preventable health issues and encouraging early detection and treatment in men of all ages.
Here are our top 5 tips to promote health & wellbeing, so you can live a healthy, happy, and balanced life.
Clean up your plate
Include more variety into your diet and don't forget those 5 servings of fruit & veg daily.
Keep your heart healthy by eating a balanced & varied diet, including heart-strengthening fruits and vegetables.
Even look to reduce your alcohol intake, to further support a healthy functioning heart. Keeping weight within a healthy range will also reduce the risk of heart disease and other cancers.
Get your heart pumping & move daily
Whether it is a jog around the block, hitting the gym, going for a surf or doing a yoga class, as long as you move 30 mins daily, your heart will thank you for it!
We live a more sedentary lifestyle so it's even more important to block out some time each & every day to move and get that blood pumping. 30 mins a day can help you live longer and be a happier person.
You don't even have to join a gym to make this happen. Get a home gym that suits your fitness needs and save money on gym memberships! Have a look at our equipment for home gyms and get that body moving!
Looking after your emotional side
Mental wellbeing is equally as important (if not more important) as having a healthy body. And so often, we focus more on the physical over the emotional.
Mental wellbeing is about being connected & taking time for yourself. It’s that quality ‘me time’ that comes with many benefits.
Just a few minutes of ‘me time’ a day can lift your mood; improve the way you deal with stress and even feel happier so you can get more out of life.
Routine check-ups!
Complacent & brushing off some much-needed doctor's visits?
Men tend to ignore aches & pains and are less likely to do check-ups & doctor's visits. And this contributes to the average man living 5 - 10 years less than their female counterpart.
Scheduling yearly check-ups & attending them may mean the difference between staying healthy or diagnosing an illness too late. Don't risk it and do see your doctor!

Gratitude & mindfulness
Positive affirmations and daily meditation practices can improve self-awareness, help you achieve greater focus, reduce levels of stress and anxiety, and can even improve sleep.
Start small, even if it's only 10 minutes a day. The benefits are worth that investment of time, so you can be a better human to yourself & those around you.
We hope that these 5 tips will help you live a healthier and happier life, so we can enjoy sharing memories & adventures with you for longer!
